I’ve had the privilege of meeting some really successful people over the past 4 years. For the purpose of this post I’ll define success this way: people who have a goal, do the work of achieving it and know what they are doing that is helping them to achieve their goals. It is not luck or a wish, they know what is contributing to them achieving their goals.

A gift of mine is my ability to hold space – I recognized as a Chiropractor I could ask some deep questions but also notice subtleties of people’s body language and discern how they were feeling aka I have always been a keen observer.

When networking with these ‘successful’ people at different events I noticed two main things without having talk to them:

  1. On breaks, they were clear about the kind of warm beverage they enjoyed – you may be thinking who cares? Well let me explain. Knowing what you like and don’t like is actually an important part of self care – it makes your life much easier. On top of that they made a decision and stuck to it. If one station didn’t have what they wanted, they would go to another one to find it. They wouldn’t just settle for something else. These types of people knew exactly what they liked and if they required something that wasn’t available, they wouldn’t hesitate to ask for it. Again, seems so simple but ask yourself if you know what you want and ask for it on a regular basis…
  2. They waited a certain period of time before drinking said beverage – I used to be one of those people who would make tea, drink it and then burn my tongue and wish I hadn’t done that so maybe that’s why I noticed this. Again if you’re like who cares, let me explain. Waiting for your beverage to be the perfect temperature for drinking shows patience. When you are in business, patience is one of the most important virtues you can have and sometimes this shows up in the smallest of ways.

One of the most important things I learned from Bob Proctor was this statement: the way you do anything is the way you do everything.

So yes, these are little moments but they give such an insight and window into the minds of these ‘successful’ people. As my awareness is increasing I am literally so aware of the razor’s edge between results you want and don’t want. These things are really what makes the difference in your results & has allowed me to shift my results dramatically!
